Job Description
Purpose of this role:
To strategically manage the warehouse and logistical operations of the company, to ensure appropriate stock management, speedy delivery to our customers, management of third party suppliers of services and the expansion of our delivery network.

Key performance areas:

Efficient & Effective Management of Warehouse
Monitoring stock levels and managing the warehouse operation to optimise warehouse space
Ensuring that the planned new warehouse management system is appropriately implemented
Securing stock, record movement and limit shrinkage to 0.5% maximum
Ensuring regular stock counts happen throughout the year
Monitoring the quality, quantity, cost and efficiency of the movement and storage for stock
Coordinating associated information systems
Analysing data to monitor performance and plan improvements
Anticipating risks and opportunities and put plans in place to address
Allocating and managing staff resources according to changing needs
Liaising and negotiating with suppliers of services
Regular reviewing and assessing of processes within the warehouse to ensure that these are effective and efficient
Ensuring projects identified are appropriately managed and implemented
Efficient & Effective Management of Fulfilment
Developing the business by analysing logistical problems and producing new solutions
Ensuring that the home delivery network is properly managed and expanded, within budget, as agreed at board level
Ensuring that the relationship with SAPO, NamPost and BotsPost is properly managed at a strategic level
New warehouse
Ensuring that the development of the new warehouse is managed within agreed timeframes and budget
Ensuring that the move from the existing warehouse to the new warehouse happens without business interruption
Improve Customer Service and the Customer Experience
Ensuring that all processes operate within agreed standards and timelines
Improving the customer experience through speeding up the warehouse process and the distribution process
Improving packaging
Manage Costs Within Budget
Preparing budgets for warehouse and fulfilment operations and manage expenses within these
Continuously identify cost savings
Staff Satisfaction
Ensuring team members have clear and tangible goals which are assessed bi-annually through the KPA performance management process
Mentoring of staff, identifying training needs and developing career growth plans
Providing effective leadership to team members in order to reduce turnover and achieve optimal efficiency of the Department
Ensuring team members work effectively with individuals across the business to gain knowledge on strategies, business processes to improve overall profitability and customer service
Desired Skills & Experience

Qualification:
University Degree in logistics or a comparable degree is required
MBA will be advantageous
Experience and Skills:

Must have
Minimum 15 years’ experience in the warehousing and logistics industry
5 Years’ experience at a senior managerial level
Nice to have
Sound knowledge of health and safety procedures
Project management skills
Understanding of labour law and BCEA
Direct marketing and/or mail order experience
Attributes & Behaviours:
Ability to understand complex technical information, and translate this information into relevant business terms and concepts
Capable of developing clear and up-to-date procedural processes
Possess strong analytical troubleshooting and problem solving skills
Excellent customer interface skills
Excellent communication skills
Ability to think strategically
Ability to work under pressure
